An Atletico statement said: “Fernando Torres has undergone a cranial and cervical CT scan that has ruled out any alteration or traumatic injuries for the Rojiblancos forward, after the strong blow to the head he suffered in this Thursday’s match at Riazor.
“The player, who is stable, conscious and lucid, had to be rushed in an ambulance after being stabilised according to the usual protocol, before being admitted to La Coruna’s Modelo Hospital.”
He spent the night in hospital under observation.
The nasty clash occurred in the 84th minute of the match.
The striker was given mouth to mouth by other players before being taken from the pitch by medical staff.
The star himself tweeted just before midnight: “Many thanks to everyone for worrying about me, and for your messages of encouragement. It was just a scare. I hope to return very soon!”
